Implant removal is a plastic surgery that removes the existing implants. There is considerable misinformation on the internet about the safety of the implants. There is a lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) that is very rare and is mostly associated with textured shelled implants. It is this concern that has compelled the complete removal of the capsule. Yet most patient's have smooth shelled implants. A smooth implant doesn't create the same internal tissue response that textured shells do. So this is not a 'white-black' issue. Taking the capsule is possible and done frequently, yet it is not always indicated. Dr. Brown will guide you through the process.
